He didn't know why he hadn't let her go as soon as they were up. Maybe it was too make sure she didn't go right back down, maybe it was some other reason. Red wasn't really thinking about it, now that he'd pushed it to the back of his mind that is. He grinned as she laughed, good that meant she was no longer feeling all embarrassed and flustered about what had happened a few minutes ago. Her words really caught him off guard, it was amazing how he could keep forgetting such a thing. The moment she'd said that, with her obvious tone of teasing, Red quickly brought his hands down to cover himself.
It was already too late considering it was easy to see under the water and she could have peeked at any time, but still he made the effort. Eying Akiva, Red slowly raised one brow at her. "You didn't steal a peek did you?" Not that it'd really matter. What, he'd stop talking just because she saw something? He was the one who took off his bottoms.

She smiled as she watched Red's hands move down. "No, I didn't" she shook her head "but it really wasn't that hard to tell you didn't have them on" she let out a laugh "Why else would you have me turn around before you got in the water?" she raised a brow at him
Akiva hoped she hadn't said anything that would make him want to get out of the pool. Despite the awkwardness that had occurred over the past few minutes he was fun to talk to. She hadn't really found anyone to talk to on board as just another person, and not as part of her job, but Red was cool to talk to, and she hoped she hadn't jeopardized that.

He froze as he covered himself, watching Akiva as she answered him. He didn't think she was a liar and the way she said it with a laugh he was sure she was being honest, just trying to get back at him for before. Red's questioning gaze soon turned into a smirk as he slowly stopped covering, pushing back through the water as he did so. "I see, you're pretty smart." But he'd already figured that by talking with her. There was no real awkwardness between them, that he felt anyway, so Red could easily move on from this little moment of flustering one another.
"I wouldn't have been mad if you did." He winked at her before laughing again. But the man quickly shook his head, he'd gotten her worked up enough already as it was. Quickly he splashed some water at her, trying to move away from their teasing. "So how about that race...Jeane?" Red grinned before parting his lips to poke his tongue out at her. He rolled over onto his back and began swimming toward the other end of the pool.

"Hey" she laughed as she felt the water splash against her skin, hitting her face. "Oh you're gonna get it" she laughed as she splashed him back. He started to swim toward the other in and she took in a breath as she went under and started to swim. Coming up for a breath she saw she wasn't that far from it and so went under to close the distance.
She looked over at him with a grin "Let's see what you got, Spartakus" she said as she stuck her tongue out at him. He'd done it to her earlier and she could do it right back. "First one to the other side?" her gaze went to the opposite end of the pool and then back over at him.

He laughed as water splashed about, chuckling as Akiva made her threats behind him. "Oh am I?" Red glanced over his shoulder as he mocked her, impress at her speed under the water. Finally reaching the edge of the pool he stopped and looked at the girl as she stuck her tongue out at him, drawing yet another laugh. He took a quick break to take in a few breaths and watch the water, looking across the pool at its other end.
She had called him Spartakus, she couldn't think he'd let her get away with that. "You are so gonna pay for that." He said before pushing her shoulder playfully. First one to the other side, that was perfect. Red nodded his head in agreement, "But wait," A hand was raised to make sure she wouldn't take off. "I think we should make some kind of bet. Just to make things...more fun." He turned his head in a tilt and smirked, "Unless you're afraid." Chicken clucks could have been thrown in, but he figured just his usual teasing smirk would be enough for her.

"Really I'm gonna pay for that?" she asked with a smirk "and just how am I going to pay for that, hmm?" she raised a brow slowly, smirking so that her nose scrunched up a little. She was curious to see how he would make her pay for using his middle name, one he obviously wasn't too fond of.
About to take off she stopped when she saw his hand raised up. "Me? Afraid? Ha" she gave out a mocking singular laugh "You wish I was afraid" she pushed him, playfully. "What do you have in mind for the bet?" Akiva wondered if he had anything planned, she sure didn't.

"Yeah." He answered her with a fake threatening voice, smirking at her as nose scrunched just a little bit. "By kicking your ass in this race." Red nodded to his own words, his over confidence showing brightly. One of the things that he really liked about her was that she could joke and tease just like he could, guess he really did have her brothers to thank for that. "Yes, you." He moved his face close to her's in a mocking way, before pulling back and poking her nose with his index finger, laughing afterward.
He grinned as she pushed him, he feigned to be hurt. "Good question." What did he have in mind. Raising his other hand from the water Red scratched the scruff on his chin, thinking. Damnit he brought up a bet and now he was completely stomped, he really did suck at planning ahead. "Wait, I got it!" He looked at her with a wide grin. "If win, you let me take you out." It was pretty forward and she'd probably get flustered again, but Red really did want to take her out. He couldn't think of a stipulation for if he lost, but if she wanted to then Akiva could think of something to benefit herself at his expense.

He wanted to take her out. That was a nice gesture, though she was tempted to ask where they'd go out. The mess hall? Maybe they'd use the transporters and go somewhere, she wasn't sure what he had in mind for that. He' given his side to the bet if he won and now she had to figure out something.
"Okay umm" she bit her lip thinking, this was harder than she thought. "I think I want to keep mine a surprise" she smirked "But you might want to try and win" she told him, acting as if what she had planned was going to be something horrible.

Red bit his bottomlip as he sat silent, waiting anxiously to see if Akiva would accept his terms. His eyebrows shot up as she gave a simple 'okay'. He hadn't been expecting that, but he was well beyond happy that she hadn't decided to say screw the bet. With a grin he nodded to her, a grin which soon drooped as he eyed her. "That's no fair." His words were whiny, but all in jest, he had no problem seeing what she could come up with. After all, Redulio did not plan on losing.
"Oh, you little..." Red bit his lip in a mock effort to quiet an insult, though he had no actual qualms with this set up. "Fine, fine." Pushing on her arm he made himself drift back. "Ready?" Turning to face the correct direction Red placed his hand behind him and on the concrete around the pool. "Set." His eyes glanced over at Akiva, watching her entire body as his feet touched the wall behind him underneath the water.
"GO!" The moment he shouted, Red's arm came forward and his feet pushed hard. He was launched forward as he took a deep breath, putting his face down into the water as his legs kicked and his arms pivoted.

"Sure its fair" she stuck her tongue out at him "All's fair in bets and pools" It was good that they could play with each other like this. It reminded her of home, she hadn't been able to act like this, like herself for some time and it was nice to have someone she could be herself around.
Go. The word had been shouted and he took off. With being able to say the word he had a bit of an advantage, but she wasn't going to let him win. Less than a split second after he took off she pushed herself off against the wall. Her legs kicked and her arms moved through the water. She was a little tempted to go under, but for some reason she thought that might be cheating.

Red couldn't let himself lose, he had to push his legs to kick as fast as he could if he wanted to win. A date was on the line. Akiva moved pretty quickly through the water, and even though he didn't know what the girl had planned she'd made it clear that it probably wasn't something that he'd like. Lifting his head from the water Red took in a small breaths with each chance he got to glance over at Akiva, making sure she wouldn't pass him.
They were reaching the halfway mark, just a few more feet to go. Red placed his arms at his sides and moved his body like a dolphin through the water, it'd make him go a little faster but it also meant more work for his entire body, he was risking tiring himself out.

The race continued on, he was barely ahead of her when she noticed that his tactics had changed. His mode of swimming had shifted and so would hers. Go under she started to swim, keeping her eyes open under the water so she could see where she was going. When she would come up for hair she made sure that he wasn't getting a lead on her.
Going back under she swam another short ways before resurfacing to go back to the standard stroke that she had been using earlier. She knew Red really wanted to win this, but so did she, and she wasn't going to slow down until she reached the other side first.

Did he mention that she was fast? Because she was! As Red rolled through the water he made a quick glance to his side seeing Akiva dip her body beneath the surface. She'd switch up every now and again, and when she did Red decided to go back to his original stroke. She was pulling ahead, but Red wasn't out just yet. Once again he put his head down, shut his eyes, and made his arms and legs work even harder.
He was competitive, and that meant he wanted to win. After a few seconds of darkness Red opened his eyes and looked up ahead. The tile of the side of the pool was closing in fast. Just...a...little...further. A grin slowly began to stretch his lips as Red slowed himself just in time to slap a hand on the patterned tile. He quickly leaped up in the water in excitement, "Yes! Whoo!" When his feet settled onto the bottom of the pool again he wipes his eyes and looked around. Akiva wasn't behind him. Looking over to his side, his grin slipped away, she had already been at the finish. "Damn..."

She felt the tile and calmly and quietly stopped. She looked around he wasn't there. She'd won. Akiva smirked a little to herself as she saw him hit the tile and then leap up like he'd just won a million dollars. A light laugh slipped as he suddenly realized that he hadn't won
"Alright now since I won, I guess I'll have to tell you what your end of the bet is" she smiled at him. Staring at him for a moment she didn't say anything, she wanted to watch him for a moment, see how nervous he was going to be, if at all. After all, she had played it up like it was going to be something horrific, maybe even embarrassing.

How'd he lose? Red played the race back over and over in his head, seeing no way how she'd beat him, but it was pretty clear that she did. He shot her a glare, not at all serious, as she laughed at him. "Okay...you beat me." The medical officer admitted with a light shrug. yes he was competitive, but he knew how to lose. His shoulders slumped as she spoke, tipping across the tile beneath them to get closer to her.
"Yeah," At first he made a face like he wasn't ready to hear it. Not ready to hear the horrible thing she'd planned to make him look like a fool, or what she wanted to embarrass him with. But Red shrugged it off, it was all in being a good sport, he had to accept whatever it was she'd say. "Okay, I can take it."
