Snowboarding. It seemed like fun, he'd seen it done on television a lot, but living in Louisiana and San Francsico he never got the chance to. But swimming, that was something he was used to and loved doing, for a moment it made him think if there was an on board pool, that would have been great. "Sounds like a nice place to grow up." He nodded to her, she spoke with such fondness about her home.
"I'm not much of a planner, but I do want to do things right if I can ever get to Kirk's place." He grinned as he spoke of a man that he did not know. "Do I look like a guy who'd have you running around?" Red smirked playfully as he teased her, but he nodded as she grinned back at him. He was glad that he had decided to sit there, he could have passed up meeting Akiva and who knows if they would have ever crossed paths at a later time. "So whats your fam like back at home? Must be nice to have siblings to go nuts with huh?" Zilla wouldn't know.

"Well I don't know" she raised her brows up a little "See, now you say you wouldn't have me running around, but if the opportunity came I'm sure you'd like to see just how much you can have me do at once" she laughed a little before she reached out taking a drink of water. She hadn't needed it until now, but her mouth was starting to get just a little dry.
"Well my dad he does what he can for us, he had to get another job. That's why I went to the Academy" she looked down for a moment before her eyes shifted back up. "My brothers were cool, they were both older than me. Dad would get pissed at some of the things we did" Akiva laughed, remembering some of the things she and her brothers had done together. Things that if caught, probably would have landed them in cell for a day or two.

As she spoke his grin grew wider and wider, "How long have we been talking? I think you're getting to know me too well." He joked as he leaned back, but she was right. "I'd like to see just how much you could do." It was a little strange to hear himself chuckle, given the emptiness of the mess hall, they were completely alone. Watching as she took a sip of water it made Red realize just how thirsty he was, it hadn't been a problem when he had a juicy apple to sink his teeth into. His smirk went away as they moved into a slightly more serious topic.
He didn't hear mention of her mother which made him think she was no longer in the picture, there were two possible reasons in his mind but he didn't want to ask anything that private. Being the child of two doctors meant Red didn't know must about getting another job, or doing what you could. They just did what they did. Shifting in his seat slightly Red laughed just as she did, "Yeah, we really know how to drive our parents nuts." It was the truth, though he doubted she did it intentionally like he did.
With one arm on the table Red glanced around the empty dining area, turning his sight back to Akiva with a curious expression. "Would there be a pool on board?" May have been a stupid question, this ship was for exploration and while it was meant to maintain human life for years, that didn't mean it'd have such necessities as an indoor swimming pool.

The question took her back a little. It wasn't that serious of a question, in no way life or death, but still wasn't expected. "I don't know. I haven't come across one" she answered him. "Want to go look?" she asked biting her lip a little. There was only one way to see if there was one on board or not, and that was to do just that, look.
She wasn't sure how he would take to the request, he probably had something better to do. Putting her arms down against the table, and leaning back just a little she stared at him, waiting for an answer. Did he want to go look with her or did he want to try and figure out the answer to his question on his own?

He could tell that the question had caught her off guard, and honestly it had even caught him off guard, but he was curious nonetheless. He loved to swim, and even though he was already on break it'd be nice to take a dip some time instead of rushing back to work. All work and no play makes Reddy a dull boy, he thought to himself. He nodded and twisted his mouth in disappointment, she hadn't seen one, his hopes were almost dashed in that very instant.
Just as his question had taken her back a little, her question had the same effect on him. "Really?" Red cocked a brow as he wondered if she was serious, after a moment of studying her expression he came to the decision that she was. "Yeah, that'd be great." The young man tried to not appear too anxious, but at the speed that he stood it was clear that he was ready to get searching. "Let's go." He grinned down at her after rounding the table to her side, offering a hand though it was pretty much unneeded.
There were two entrances/exits to the mess hall, leading north and south, they would need to choose which way to go in their search. "Maybe we should start somewhere near the gym." Zilla spoke aloud though he was only thinking to himself, still it was a start.

His anxiousness amused her, it was something that made him just a little more attractive than he already was. She took his hand and stood up with his help. It wasn't that she needed to take his hand in order to stand up, but he'd offered and she wasn't going to let him do that for nothing. She looked both ways at the exits, before turning back to him "I think you're right" she nodded.
She took a few steps towards the south exit, the gym was quicker to get through out that way. When she came to stand in front of the exit she stopped and turned around. "Are you coming or what?" she asked raising a brow at him, as she crossed her arms loosely over her chest.

He grabbed her hand firmly to provide leverage as she lifted herself from her seat, releasing his grip once they stood next to each other. He grinned at her height, but there was nothing wrong with a shorter girl, he actually kinda liked it. Red had to take a step back to let her get passed him, for some reason he didn't move as she moved toward the exit. Shaking his head at himself he nodded as she called out to him, "Yeah." Red grinned before making a light jog to catch up.
The southern hall. He still was a little unfamiliar with the starship, but luckily Akiva seemed to be a lot more adapted. "So, Akiva?" He started as they began walking through the halls, "Whats the 'J' in 'AJ' stand for?"

"Jeane" she said as she glanced over and up at him. Akiva Jeane, it wasn't exactly a combination she liked, and she prayed in the back of her mind that he wouldn't laugh at it. If he did though, there were plenty of little comments she could come back with about his name.
They started to walk down the corridors of the southern section of the ship from the mess hall. It really wasn't a far walk to the gym, she guessed they'd designed it that way for a purpose. Eat in the mess hall and work it off in the gym. "So now that you know my little J secret, you have a middle name?" she asked just trying to keep the conversation going.

Jeane? Akiva Jeane....he still didn't know her last name, but that was fine. He really couldn't say anything about her name considering his was Redulio, even though he gave her the sort version. As they continued to walk he glanced at her with a grin, nodding to her name, "Its nice." It looked like they were getting closer to the gym, hopefully if there was a pool it'd be near there. "I do, but you have to promise me that you wont laugh." He looked at her with a grin but quickly made it go away, she had to believe he was deadly serious. The girl had managed to keep herself from laughing at Red Zilla, it shouldn't be too hard to hold back another laugh.
"It's Spartakus." He looked away from her after speaking his middle name, stepping forward toward the gym door. Moving closer to the door he waited for it to open automatically before entering the large gym area. "You better not laugh." He joked with her.

"Okay I promise" she nodded her head as he told her not to laugh. The smile he had went away and she guessed it was something that was pretty ridiculous. This conclusion she'd come to was confirmed when he looked away to say his name. Spartakus? Well I guess your parents thought you'd do something great" she smiled at him
The door opened and she stepped in after him. Taking a look around she noticed that there wasn't a pool right there out in the open. "So," she looked up at him "should we go have a look around in here?"

She promised, and to Red's amazement the girl actually held onto that promise. "Ha, yeah...don't I know it." He commented about his parents expecting him to do something great. Akiva had no idea what kind of weight was on his shoulders and the type of pressure he had to deal with. Moving further away from Akiva Red went to look around some of the equipment, no pool in the current area. "We'll check a few rooms." He glanced over at her with a smile, "I'll take this side and you can take the other."
The split up technique, that always allowed a group to cover more ground. While he peered into the other room filled with threadmill equipment Red decided to keep talking to Akiva, he felt like his earlier reply was a little short to her. "Where are your brothers while you're on this expedition?"

Split up, that sounded like a good and if he hadn't suggested it she would have done so. After he started to his side, she went to hers and looked into one of the rooms. There some mats inside, which made her think that room was used for yoga, maybe even some sort of gymnastics if people on board did that sort of thing. She could get in a hand stand and maybe a cartwheel, but that was pretty much it.
"I don't know" she answered him as she started to move to the next room "I sort of left for the Academy without telling anybody. That was a few years ago. I haven't actually talked to them since I left" She felt ashamed that she had done that, just up and left without saying a word about where she was going. It was just that was the only way she knew to help her family. If she told them she was going to go her father would have done everything to stop her. She'd been just a kid when she left, barely a teenager.

He pushed a few items aside and eyed the numerous rows of machines, all ready to be used for whenever they'd be visited again, their user's data and settings already stored for the next round. Red glanced over in Akiva's direction as she said she didn't know, which was pretty shocking to him. He wasn't on talking terms with his parents so that explained him being out of the loop with their lives, but Akiva seemed to have a much better family connection than he had. "Don't you worry about them?" The way she spoke of her brothers and her dad it sounded like they were close, she had to be worried to not hear from them in years.
"Are you finding anything over there?" He asked as he remembered they were supposed to be looking for the pool. Looking across the room Red eyed a dark blue door, eying it with raised brows. He glanced back to see if he could catch a glimpse of Akiva. If they did find the pool, what were they going to do? Neither of them brought a swim suit, and work couldn't wait forever. Save the pool for a 'rainy day'?

"Yeah I do worry about them" she inhaled as she moved on to look in the next room. Just some extra equipment in there "but that's why I left." It seemed weird, if someone cared about another person, especially family, they would usually do what they could to stay with them or keep in contact. Akiva hadn't gotten the nerve to contact them. She didn't know what she would say to her father or her brothers. They'd probably be upset with her, angry.
With a shake of the head she looked over at him, "No, just some rooms with mats and extra weights and things like that" she said as she walked out of the last room she'd entered inside "What about you?"

They were kinda far a part now but Red could still hear her clearly. It didn't sound like this was easy for her to talk about, and of course it wouldn't she was keeping herself away from her family. Akiva didn't do it as a mean or selfish thing, it was because she loved them that she did what she did. Red could almost understand it but his mentality was not the same as Akiva's, not that he didn't love his parents. He sighed to himself as he gave up on trying to make sense of it, he was meant to be searching anyway.
Taking a step forward Redulio pushed on the dark door but quickly stopped, glancing back to make sure his attempt hadn't been seen. It wasn't a push door, it was pull. Laughing at his own stupid mistake Red pulled on the door and grinned at the smell, looking over his shoulder as he held onto the doorhandle. "Found the pool!"
