"You don't know what this is, do ye? It's Aztec Gold . . ."
Who knew that what seemed to be an innocuous medallion could upset the course of history and forever reshape the Caribbean, and the world?
Like a stone dropped into a pool, the ripples reach far and wide, and many others than those initially involved are now caught in the stormy waters.
"The world is shrinking, the blank edges of the map filled in..."
The activity of pirates like Jack Sparrow and Barbossa has caught the eye of the Honourable East India Company, and now the Company makes the West Indies their base of operations, under the tyrannical Lord Cutler Beckett. All citizens are now considered suspect of either being or aiding pirates, and in the eyes of His Lordship are guilty until proven innocent. Even children are not safe from his "justice".
The former-Commodore Norrington, once in charge of the Royal Navy squadron in Port Royale, has fled his own court martial. In his place, newly promoted Commodore St Montgomery, a cruel man willing to sacrifice anyone to advance his own cause, has allied the Royal Navy with the Company. If anything, tensions between the two groups have only increased since the alliance, and it would take little to spark off this powder keg.
The pirates were already losing their grip on the Caribbean, their numbers dwindling. If they are to survive, they will have to overcome their petty disputes and band together under the leadership of the Brethren Court. It is time to sing the song, and choose a leader.
And what of those others--craftsmen, children, sailors, prostitutes, the gentry? Everyone is affected by everything else, and all have their part to play in shaping the world.
Starting before Dead Man's Chest and adopting characters from all three movies, Aztec Gold rewrites the sequels--borrowing plots and events, but adding its own twist to the story with the addition of original characters and more plots than even At World's End could boast. After Curse of the Black Pearl, nothing is set in stone, and is subject to the will of the members.
