The blue light evaporated around Kirk and revealed a dusty planet before him. Kirk had spent enough time with Starfleet to know that most uninhabited planets had become desert-like, without anyone to maintain or develop the land. It made everything look the same. The last planet Kirk had been dropped of on was the ice planet, Delta Vega. There, much like M-113 it was a desert, but an icy one, with only two inhabitants. One of those inhabitants was someone who'd become very important and prominent on the Enterprise and the outcome of this procedure was going to be quite similar.
Kirk looked around, turning all the way in a circle to check the planet out. In a word, it sucked. James kicked a rock along the dusty planet surface and turned to face his comrades. Okay, guys we're here to see Doctor Robert Crater and his wife Nancy, according to Chekov's calculations, we're only a short walk from the makeshift lab they've got here. So come on. Darnell you take up the rear. Bones, with me.
Jim set off for the ridge before them, walking quickly and still looking around the planet, wary of beings that he knew weren't there. Somehow, he had a bad feeling about it all.

Once he felt the energy of the transporter beam gone and felt he had arrived intact McCoy opened his eyes to look around. Not that there was much to look at. It appeared for all intense purpose a deserted desert much like the ones on Earth except the rock formation and colorations were that of entirely different planetary eco system or what was left of one.
Okay, guys we're here to see Doctor Robert Crater and his wife Nancy, according to Chekov's calculations, we're only a short walk from the makeshift lab they've got here. So come on. Darnell you take up the rear. Bones, with me.
Bones as Kirk liked to call him nodded and followed alongside the captain. As they traveled McCoy took a closer look at the rock formations around them. “Well no wonder they chosen this planet to conduct their archeological survey for so long.” He commented touching carefully at the surface of a nearby rock wall. “These formations are not naturally formed. They must be remains of a culture long dead, really long dead. From the looks of this planet I would say there hasn’t been any intelligent life here for several centuries.”
McCoy wiped his hand off on the rim of his uniform shirt. “Let’s just hope that whatever killed the life off of this planet has died out with it.”

Probably not, Bones. Jim replied, brushing his hand along the face of a large boulder, with the sand covering its base. He stepped along, feet slipping every so often on sand that wasn't condensed or loose stones. He reached up and grabbed the top of a small boulder to pull himself to the top of the ridge faster. There it is. James said, pointing to a small cave with blinking lights being emitted from it. Come on.
Jim slid down the small hill, leaving a trail of sand parted behind himself. He didn't look back at Bones, he just wanted to get out of the stupid desert that reminded him of Delta Vega so much. He only had to walk a few meters more, before entering the little cave. Computer consoles blinked around him, providing the makeshift home with most of its light. Clothes were scattered around, some hanging off consoles or lying on the floor. Jim picked up and emptied salt container, which should have been filled with tiny capsules that would expand into many little grains of salt when they were ground. He threw the container onto a ravaged couch, with lumps torn from it here and there.
Jim turned to Bones, Fancy living, huh? Jim stepped into the second room of the lab, seeing the bones of strangely shaped creatures lying on sveral different tables and in containers, each with a tag wrapped around it, with a separate number and date scrawled on it. Jim walked back out of the room and into the first, scolding Darnell as he went, Put that down, you don't know what it could do. He looked outside for anyone near the cave to no avail. Bones, would you scan the area and see if Doctor Crater or his wife are nearby?

Bones, would you scan the area and see if Doctor Crater or his wife are nearby?
McCoy already had his tricorder open and ready to begin scanning on the captain's word.
“Of all the bone head ideas how’d I let myself get talked into this. Plenty of medical staff on the Enterprise could perform examination, but no apparently I’m just a glutton for punishment. Parted ways years ago she got married I got married; I doubt she’s even thought twice about me. Not that it really matters I suppose.” Bones ranted more to himself than anyone else in the room as he gave a quick scan of the area for bio signs. The Doctor was a mix of emotions in this situation feeling trepidation of meeting an old flame, awkwardness at also meeting her husband. All of the mixed feelings that any ex-girlfriend would bring up in a man were fighting his sense of duty as a Star Fleet medical officer.
“Should be someone here in just a second, the other is coming from further down the coridor there.” McCoy informed the captain before closing up his tricorder. He held the machine in both hands behind his back before shaking his head. “What the hell was I thinking Jim?”

What you were thinking was that you're duty was more important to you than the awkward time you're about to have with Nancy. And furthermore-- What the hell is that!? Jim picked up what looked like a reptile's skin, from Crater's desk, and threw it on his desk chair, That's just not something a man should keep on his desk...
Kirk wandered for a few more seconds, before hearing footsteps behind him. He swung around to see a woman in and around her early thirties standing at the entrance, smiling at the two men. Nancy? Nancy Crater? Kirk asked cautiously, despite the fact that the planet's only two inhabitants were Robert Crater and his wife, Nancy.
Yes, I am. she stated simply before stepping into the cave and approaching Jim, I assume, because of the stripes you're wearing, you're Captain Kirk? The one that Starfleet sent to give Robert his physical.
Kirk opened his mouth to speak, but was cut off before the slightest throat scratching could even be heard. Oh my god! Leonard! You are the attending Physician! She ran over and hugged Bones tight, before telling them: Robert will be here in just a few minutes. How are you Leonard?
((OOC:You have control over Nancy now, her speech and stuff. Don't forget that she doesn't look a day older than when Bones last saw her.))

McCoy rolled his eyes behind his friend’s back. The last person he wanted to hear a speech about the importance of duty verse personal relationships with the opposite sex from was James Kirk. He’s need extra hands to count on his fingers how many times Kirk’s dalliances had got him into some trouble or another.
That's just not something a man should keep on his desk...
“Yeah that is one odd specimen.” The doctor moved to take a closer look at the odd artifact. He was bent down taking a closer look at it when he heard the footsteps. McCoy looked over towards the entranceway and was put in a state of shock. It was as if a ghost from his past had literally stepped into the room. Nancy looked exactly as he remembered her. She had not changed one beautiful strand on her lovely head in the almost 10 years since he had last seen her. His mind and heart flooded with a comforting feeling of connection as if not a day had passed since he and Nancy had parted ways.
Oh my god! Leonard! You are the attending Physician!
McCoy gave a small somewhat bewildered smile to her which became even more so as she moved over and wrapped her arms around him. At this point McCoy was just hoping the blood would not rush to his cheeks causing the southern boy to blush.
Robert will be here in just a few minutes. How are you Leonard?
“Ahem I’m good.” Leonard managed to get out with only a slight stammer as he put his thoughts together. The initial shock of seeing Nancy was wearing down quickly and McCoy was managing to compose himself in front of his old sweetheart once more. “You know healing the sick, keeping out of trouble, same old McCoy.”
“Of course you are.” Nancy said with a slight knowing laugh. “I never would have imagined you would ever find a way to get out into space let alone be a star fleet physician.”
“Yeah well things change. It’s great to see you Nancy, you look like you’re doing well out here. It looks like you haven’t aged a day since I last saw you.” Without even realizing it the doctor was speaking to Nancy as if he had just seen her yesterday and not years ago. It was like reliving a pleasant memory all over again. Nancy seemed almost perfect to him.
On the other side of the room Darnell had been standing silently observing looking out for both the Captain and the Doctors safety, till Nancy had walked in. Like the others his attention had been drawn on the woman since she walked in but unlike the others he stared at her as though she was the most gorgeous woman he had ever laid eyes on. So much so that he felt the urge to just have to say something to her. “Pardon me miss but if I didn’t know better I’d swear I met you once back on Risa. She was a…of course you couldn’t be but you look just so”
“A little less mouth Darnell.” Bones barked at the crewman to get him to stop talking before he accidently said something that would embarrass them or Nancy.
“Sorry sir I just meant…she looks just like her.” Darnell quieted down having been pointed out by his superior officer as being out of line or at least on the verge of it.
“Come now Leonard don’t be so hard on him, hah same old Plum.” Nancy said with a laugh smiling at the male company she was entertaining. A smile that was familiar and friendly to McCoy, and surprisingly alluring to Darnell.
